The Brown House by Christy Sloat~Review and Giveaway

Book Description

 June 5, 2012
Some secrets should never be revealed…

Brylee Branson begrudgingly made the excruciating move with her family from the warm sandy beaches of California to small town living in New Jersey. As if she wasn’t miserable enough, they’ve moved into a creepy old house that everyone in the area claims is haunted. Brylee dismisses the idea of ghosts and hauntings, until she begins to see and hear things that can’t be explained…

Brylee has no choice but to seek the help of new friends to unlock the secrets of this place she now calls home. But some secrets should never be revealed. Can the teens find a way to release the spirits imprisoned within the walls? Or will the curse claim them, too?

My Review

4 Stars....
Brylee's making a major move with her family and that's not the only life changing event in her life! From day one in their new home something is just not right in the house. Strange noises, doors closing and eerie feelings have Brylee a little on edge, add the girl she meets in the woods whom automatically starts telling her stories of her new home that puts Brylee even more on edge. Ghosts, curses, text messages from a lost friend and a girl who has been missing for awhile now.....can her life turn even more eventful? Oh, yes.....add the cute neighbor boy whom has a few enemies at school, his younger sister who lucky for Brylee just happens to be her new best friend!

I really did like the story-line and all the possibilities that were present in this book as well as upcoming possibilities in future books to come in the series. I don't want anyone to think I did not like this book because it's not true I did! I can only hope that the second book in this series embraces it's true potential while filling in a few things that left me wondering in The Brown House and I do plan on reading it once it comes out! Keep reading, don't give up on this series that's for sure! I think my main thing was I could not figure out what caused Brylee to all of a sudden see and speak to ghosts nor how she knew she was talking to one ghost yet had no clue about another?!? (I am being a bit cryptic in this because I don't want to give away whom I am talking about!)

Pick up The Brown House. Give it a shot, I don't think you will regret it.

Author Stacey Rourke of The Gryphon Series.

I don't know about you but I truly believe that what someone is like in person reflects immensely on how they write their books, interact with fans and how successful they may become. If you are a ill mannered and lack respect for others around you then you will have a harder time selling your work. After all Karma is a beeeeeeeeeeeeppppppppppppppppppp..........
With that said, author Stacey Rourke's fabulous humor shows up in her books, on her fan pages, in her street team's group and yes even one on one talking with her. This post today is to let Stacey know just how much those whom work with her daily on helping to spread the word on her books truly think about her. Each gave a short, few sentences about her (after all we want a blog post, not a book) and her work.

Embrace Blog Tour with Stacey Rouke : Character Interview and Giveaway!

Today is the final stop in this wonderful blog tour featuring the wonderful books of Stacey Rourke! I just want to thank Stacey for letting me a part of this tour! It's been fun! I will have another post a little later on today as a surprise post for Stacey. So stay tuned! Also, following this wonderful character interview of Grams from The Gryphon series you will find the revamped cover of her first book in the series, The Conduit! There will be a  before and after photo and even a little extra news on what's coming up on this blog!  Also, an amazing giveaway to enter if you have not done so already on another stop!So don't miss ANY of it! With that said, let's get on with the reason you are here to begin with!Time for GRAM'S INTERVIEW!!!

Today we have with us Mrs. Garrett, otherwise known as Grams who is featured in the books The Conduit, Embrace, and the soon to be released Sacrifice. Mrs. Garrett thank you so much for being with us today! Fans of The Gryphon Series have compiled some questions they’d love for you to answer, so let’s get started.

First question, if you could travel in a Time Machine where would you go?
Grams-What the blazes kind of a question is that? What do you think I live in some weird fantasy novel? (Scoffs) Next question.

Moving on then, if you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
Grams-George Clooney, Brad Pit, Sean Connery, Robert Downey Jr, and Betty White just so I look young by comparison.

If you were stranded on a desert island what would you want with you?
Grams-Please see answer to the previous question.

You’re constantly surrounded by people with amazing abilities. If you could have any superpower which would you choose?
Grams-Hmmm…that’s a tricky one. Celeste is crazy strong, but it’d be fun to fly like Kendall. Not sure I’d like turning into a lion, that just looks painful when it happens to Gabe. I guess now that I think about it I’d kind of like to have Celeste’s friend Rowan’s mind control ability. Imagine the fun you could have with that. Oddly enough it makes me think of George Clooney again…

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Grams-Anything with chocolate in it, on it, or covering it.

Do you have a favorite breakfast food?
Grams-What’s with all the food questions? You buying me lunch after this? But to answer your question—honey, I’m southern. They’ll kick me out of the great state of Tennessee if I don’t answer biscuits and gravy.

Do you have a theme song?
Grams-Hell on Heels by the Pistol Annie’s. That’s me alright!

What is your favorite Quote?
Grams-“The life of a superhero. Glamorous, no?” This really clever writer came up with that, but her name escapes me.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
Grams-Happy, which is a goal I achieve almost every day.

Last question, if a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play you and why?
Grams-Michelle Pfeiffer, I think there’s a resemblance. Don’t you see it?

Well that’s all the time we have for today!
Grams-Oh, that was just rude.

Thanks again to Mrs. Garrett—Grams—for joining us! And a thank you to all of you for sending in your questions! Find out

New versus the old....... Stacey decided it was time to step up her cover to The Conduit seeing she raised the bar so much higher in cover standards with her second book in the series Embrace and her upcoming third book Sacrifice! So, in order for them to all tie in together in a way we have the new cover! Personally, I love the new cover! I can't wait to get it in print and on my bookshelf! The cover represent's Celeste's inner Gryphon and how it's been a shadow of her for longer then she realizes and not must learn how to make the two, one!

She knew having a “normal life” would be tricky, between intense training sessions and epic demonic battles, but she didn’t know at what cost it would come. That is, until a dear friend is harmed by the malicious forces hunting her. Now, she’d like nothing more than to retreat into a hermit lifestyle to prevent anyone else from getting hurt.
