Masquerade by Dahlia Donovan ~Excerpt Included

~Synopsis~
As the months have gone by since Ivy and her wolves bonded, hints have continually been dropped about moving in together and marriage. It's unfortunate then that the romantic proposal which Ivy had hoped for never quite arrived. Her two alpha wolves instead merely demand her hand in marriage.
Suitably unimpressed, Ivy tells her gits to bugger off and hops on a private jet for a swanky masked ball in Monte Carlo with Alicia, Alim and Dane.
Can Steve and Gareth find the right words to win the yes from her lips?
You just never know who or what you'll find at a masquerade.

Excerpt:
“You look stunned.” Ivy shot him an amused smile. She glanced between the two alphas. “I’ll be in Monte-Carlo for a few days. Alim has his entire security team with him, so I’ll be perfectly safe. I’ve got my mobile with me. There is literally no reason on Earth I can imagine the two of you needing to pop up at this ball, so why don’t you do something more useful, like talk to each other? Figure out a way to fix the problem you gits created.”

“Love…”

With a slow shake of her head, Ivy silenced Steve’s argument. She pressed soft kisses on both of their cheeks before walking gracefully away, placing her hand lightly on Alim’s arm to let him escort her from the apartment. They heard her quiet laughter when two low growls rumbled from both of the wolves at the same time.

Gareth glanced over at his partner with a groan. “We’re bloody fools.”

“Accurate.”nippet

A deadly, alluring stranger. The consequences of loving a doomed immortal. The steamy hot, heart-wrenchingly emotional, edge-of-your-seat first Vesper novella Gilded Destiny is dark fantasy romance like you've never seen it before.

A woman's memory returns when she falls in love with the monster who took it from her.

Nycholas’ clandestine world holds the secrets to mankind’s origin and survival… but he only wants one thing before his time is up: a few colorful nights with Calli, the fragile, tattooed, human woman he pursued and saved.

The more Calli learns about Nycholas, the more her own darkened memories return to her. Despite her haunted past, she loses herself to passion and desire with her immortal captor.
Now, Calli must overcome the demons of her past, or allow Nycholas to kiss her memories away and spare her the trauma of loving a doomed immortal. But each choice comes with dire consequences – some that endanger not only herself, but her family as well.
BOOK TWO
Vesper Three is tormented by the branding scars on her back, broken memories of her fallen creator, and the looming consequences of her secret friendship with Sychar - a male of her kind - a high crime in her world of serpentine guardians. Drawn to his rebellious nature and impressive talents, Three cannot resist breaking the rules to enjoy a little bit of life with him.

Then along comes Jack, the human train engineer she saves in an explosion. His touch weakens both her knees and her sense of duty. But loving a human is even more forbidden by immortal law than her friendship with Sychar is. And Jack's human body can only withstand so much interrogation from the powerful, temperamental Vesper elders.

Now Three must choose between her immortal duties, her closely-held friendship, and the life of her human lover. But with every choice comes a dire cost, and not every cost is hers to pay.

Keeper VS. Reaper by Jennifer Malone Wright ~ Review

When her father died, Lucy Mae Estmond inherited the family business. She has known all of her life that she would be in line to watch over the souls of the recently passed, keeping them safe from the Reapers.

The soul eating Reapers have been a plague upon the Earth, stealing souls and leaving the Keepers as the only thing that stands between Heaven and Hell. The factions despise each other and have warred for generations.

Then Lucy discovers an ancient legend predicting the arrival of the Chosen One, destined to bring forth an end to the Reapers. The surprises continue when she realizes she is that person. For Lucy, being the Chosen One doesn’t change much. Fighting Reapers is just another day in the life of a Keeper.

When she meets Jack Walker, they both realize they have an insane, mutual attraction. Too bad that he’s been sent to prevent the prophecy from coming true. His only mission: to kill the Chosen One.

MY REVIEW

It's unheard of. She's a Keeper of souls, the chosen one, and he's a Reaper, the prince of all she should hate. They should be fighting each other to keep the other away, instead they are fighting something else. Something forbidden. An unnatural pull they can't explain and one they learn makes them weaker if they do.

This story was fabulous! Seriously, I'm so bummed that the second one is not already out so I can just binge read! I've loved all of Jennifer Malone Wrights books and I have to tell you, this is my favorite! She's given you everything you can want in one book! Good, bad, love, betrayal and action....Oh yeah!

Excerpt:

I WAS HALFWAY up my drive when the sight of three delicate star-shaped flowers wrapped in soft cream paper resting against my doorstep stopped me in my tracks. A prickle of fear crept over the back of my neck, and the air around me warmed by a few degrees. That simple bouquet of white might have been innocuous on any other doorstep, but in front of my house it was something much more dangerous. It meant that I’d been discovered.
Forcing myself to move, I approached the parcel with caution. The closer inspection did nothing to quell the unease that held my heart in a vice-grip. Magnolias. There couldn’t have been a surer sign that the one person from my past who knew my secrets and wanted me dead had found me.
I twisted around to face the road, carefully scrutinizing each of the cars parked along the side of the quiet street. The possibility that his gaze could at that very moment be firmly fixed on me was enough to cause the now-familiar tingles to spark in the tips of my fingers.
He can’t be here, can he?
The tiny hairs on the back of my neck raised as I realized that yes . . . yes he could be.
It was what he did after all. Hunt. Kill. Destroy.
My skin flushed with heat at the possible sinister motives behind the flowers. Since the incident a few years ago, I’d come to accept that this would forever be my body’s natural reaction to stress. My heart clenched with fear at the danger implicit in the situation even as my stomach fluttered with the recollection of what those flowers had once represented—what he had once meant to me. Memories of the time I’d walked with him beneath a canopy of those blooms, and everything that came after, overwhelmed me. A shudder raced down my spine.
What does it mean? Another, more vital, thought pushed the others out of my mind. How could he have gotten close enough to leave flowers?
Neither Dad nor I had the slightest suspicion that danger lurked nearby. If we had, then we would have been miles away long before the flowers could have turned up. I didn’t understand it because we were usually so adept at avoiding exposure. We had to be; it could prove deadly otherwise.
I pushed the thought out of my mind and began to consider the houses around me. I shifted my gaze toward the windows and scanned them all, examining each one for the telltale fluttering of curtains or shutters suddenly snapping closed when my eyes fell onto them. Once I was sure that there was definitely no one watching me, I bent to examine the floral package in more depth.
Are they a warning? The thought struck me as ridiculous even as it crossed my mind. From what I understood about his family and their beliefs, the flower couldn’t have been a threat or a warning either. People like me didn’t get warnings. Just death.
