Phoenix Rising Book Tour and Giveaway by Lisa C. Morgan

BOOK BLURB:
Maggie has lived the last ten years with a woman who isn't her mother and carrying the label "Daughter of John Henning", a man sentenced to live out his days at Sunnyview Psychiatric Hospital after his conviction of fire bombing a church...

and killing the 8 people inside.

What Maggie learns will change her life.
She is the last of a race of creatures known as "The Phoenix", a race of supernatural beings with the ability to wield and control fire.

And she will need that power now...

Revenants- walking, living, skeletal creatures who have waged a war against an unseen, parallel world known simply as The Realm- need Maggie's blood to bring them to a full power...a power that will give them an unbeatable edge and offer the deciding weapon in this war.

Maggie is not alone as she learns not only what she really is, but what it is her destiny to become...
Phoenix Rising (Maggie Henning & The Realm: book 1)
Synopsis
“…And I believe you do not have the control over your fire yet to destroy us all.”  He was calling my bluff. Worse, he was right.

Phoenix Rising is a first person story revolving around sixteen year old Maggie Henning. Maggie lives with her mother and has spent the previous ten years of her life wearing a label- daughter of the murderer John Henning. Her father resides at Sunnybrook Psychiatric Hospital, having been convicted of killing eight people inside of a local church, burning them alive. Or so Maggie has always been told. Maggie’s world begins to change after finding a letter addressed to her from the psychiatric hospital that offers an ominous warning. She ignores the letter, waving it off as some random nut sending her mail.
Having to endure visits with her father, per her mother’s request, has left Maggie feeling isolated and alone, with exception to her one friend, Stephanie; daughter of her father’s deceased law partner. In an effort to cheer Maggie up, Stephanie and she take in a little “retail therapy” at the local mall.
Maggie finds herself drawn into a music store she doesn’t normally go in to, drawn by a melody played by a mysterious raven haired guy that apparently alarms Maggie’s friend.
Following an argument, Maggie is abandoned at the shopping center to walk home, only to spot the mystery man again, riding a motorcycle, who offers her a ride home. Maggie isn’t normally that reckless, but she decides to throw caution to the wing and take him up on the offer.
The stage is set after a visit to her see her father, normally in a fairly catatonic state, comes aware, giving Maggie the same warning as the letter she received. Creatures, called “revenants” want Maggie’s blood. Just when Maggie had felt optimistic about her father, the hopes were dashed. But, she had seen strange things; bones, pointed teeth, rotting flesh…
The drive home reveals that Maggie’s mother is NOT what she seemed to be and after she’s attacked, the mystery guy, named Michel, arrives and rescues Maggie from one of these creatures.
Maggie is taken to “The Trust”, a manor house that offers protection to beings from “The Realm”- another world that lives right below the surface of the Mortal one. Maggie begins to learn of this strange world and the creatures that inhabit it, including a young witch with much to live up to named Autumn, a light hearted fairy named Seatha, and two Vampire Princes of The Realm, one of which is Michel. Michel is kind and level headed. Luc, his brother, is a smart ass and calls things as he sees them. The two brothers tend to be opposites of each other in most things, with exceptions to their kingdom and now, Maggie.
Maggie meets Liam at The Trust, learning that the crazy board game eating man from the asylum is really her grandfather. Liam explains The Realm, offering guidance, and more importantly, informs Maggie of what she really is- the last of a race of beings called “Phoenixes”, creatures who have the ability to call fire and use it as they wish.
The revenants, led by a creature named Ossa, will stop at nothing to get Maggie; needing her blood to bring them to full power.
Maggie must not only come to believe in all that she has heard, including that she’s one of these mythical creatures from stories, but also learn how to wield her power to face the creatures that would destroy both worlds Maggie has come to know of. All of this, even as she begins to feel more than mere friendship with one of the Princes…

REVIEW
5 stars or more!
First let me say, WOW! Just positively WOW! I was asked to read this book and give my honest review as a part of Lisa Morgan's book tour  with Tempting Book Tours and I was happy to, seeing I already had it on my TBR list anyhow.  What I did not expect was just how good this breakout book was going to be! It's her first book written and truly a gem of a series to be found. My only regret was that it took me this long to even read it! I could not figure out why I was being asked over and over by another indie author if I had read it yet! Come to find out it was because she was dying to talk about it with me without giving me spoilers!

Anyhow, look at me going on an on...Sheesh! Okay, let me tell you how I really felt about this book *Chuckles* Not like you can't tell already!
Maggie is just a teenager whom is already living a type of hell by having a father in a psychiatric ward after killing eight people ten years ago. She has lived these ten years dreading the scheduled visits to her father hating what he did and the repercussions of it that she was left to face with, with a title of the daughter of a killer. That reputation left her with one friend and her mother, a mother who for some reason refused to leave town and give Maggie a chance at having real teenage years.

A trip to the mall and one more trip to visit her father changed her life forever and will have you reading until 4 A.M ( I am not admitting nor denying this was me *cough, cough*) just to ride one of the best literary roller coaster rides I have been on in a long time!  The young man she meets draws her in by forces she can't fathom and the story just rises from there.
I don't think I have ever been on this much of a emotional mess with a book to tell you the truth! I found myself saying awe, wow, oh no, what that...no no don't do that, Oh, you go girl, oh what the.... and DANG IT man throughout the whole story! I was very sure I was in love with the male character Michel at the beginning of the book but then Luc REALLY started doubting my thoughts on this. By 3:30 A.M I was nearly sobbing and by 4 A.M
(Crap I guess I just admitted being up at 4A.M was in doubt me) I was dropping my jaw banging my head against the bed cursing the author for leaving me hanging like that while at the same time wanting to reach in and stop one of the princes from leaving her! ( Nope, not giving that away...Sorry)

This book is sure to have everything you are looking for, Vampire, Fae, Witches and Revenants, a phoenix, deceit, love, heartache and a few good fights! A story-line to have you stalking the authors page begging and pleading for teasers to part 2 in the series (once again, I will not admit nor deny me doing this).

Do yourself a favor, give this series a try. For this being a first book for this author she sure did make a hell of a introduction! Way to go Lisa!

I for one can not wait to get my hands on the second book in this series and am very anxious to see what's in store for all the characters.... I also have this odd feeling her best friend may just re appear in book two ( but this is me guessing seeing this character is very limited in the first book) and I don't think it's going to be how we expect...hmmmmmmmm....

My REVIEW :
5 Stars

Wow! I started and finished this book in a day! Even more impressive, it was my son's birthday! I had started reading this while all the kids were in the pool (I of course had to stop reading and continue spoiling my son after the pool)! We had 6 kids with us so it was an extremely long day however this book drew me in so far I HAD to continue reading it that night after the kids all went to bed! I was exhausted from the long day and that did not even stop me from staying up till wee hours of the night (or shall I say following morning) to finish it!

Poor Michelle, teen years are hard as it is but this girl manages a sick mother, a father whom is barely there , near social isolation and then finding out she's the one to decide what fate shall bring the world?!? Talking about massive peer pressure! And teens in real life think they have it hard! HA! Michelle goes through many more trials in this story including her feelings towards the fallen angel Gabriel (or, is he really fallen), fighting for her best friend and the loss of a loved one brought on by her own actions! Michelle proves to be so much stronger then she could of ever imagined!

I absolutely loved this story. The cover does no justice to the actual story! ( It's a gorgeous cover, however the story leaves you in awe ). I in no way expected to get this amazing of a book when I agreed to do this blog tour! However, don't come yelling at me when you are done with it and want to know more because I myself am sitting on the edge of my seat starring at my Kindle pouting because I have to wait to read more!

There for You Editing Services info and giveaway!!!

Let me start by saying, thank you so very much for having me on your blog today! I am super excited to be here and announce a few things going on over at There for You Editing Services. And of course, when excited about something, I give something away. Makes sense, right? Ok, not really, but that's how it's going to be. First, my news!    We have a few new things going on over at There for You. The first thing ... lower prices! I now charge only $1.25 per page, in Word doc (12pt, 1.5 spaced) format. The second ... I now use beta readers, at no additional cost to you! I have 3 trusted beta's that I use, and pay for you. What does this mean, you might ask? Well, after I edit the book I send it off to the beta's. They read over the book, looking for anything that might have been missed, because unfortunately we all make mistakes, and they point out any inconsistencies in flow or story. The beta's have all been readers, and reviewers, for years ... the type of people you want reading the book. So basically, you will have extra sets of eyes looking over your book.    You are probably wondering what type of edit I do. When I edit I am looking for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure errors, as well as the overall "flow" of the story. I never make a major change without first discussing with the author ... who I like to stay in close contact with during the time of edit. Also, in addition to all the above, during the time your book is being edited, your cover photo is There for You's profile picture and your Facebook author page is mentioned almost daily ... in hopes of moving some more traffic to your page.    Well, now that that's out of the way ... the giveaway! Here's what I am donating to the giveaway! First is an adorable bag, the perfect size to use as a Kindle or Nook holder!
See how much it fits the There for You and book world?! Well at least my world with the coffee and read :)) I'm also donating two bookmark/business magnet combo's.
In addition to the item's I've donated, many of the authors I've edited for have been kind enough to donate! So without further ado ... the rafflecopter! Oh, and if you're interested in using the editing services, or finding out more, I can be contacted at thereforyou.melissa@gmail.com or found on our Facebook page There for You Editing. Also, on the Facebook page, is covers photos of a few of the books I've edited. Thank you! A room without books is like a body without a soul. -Cicero

In My Dreams by Cameo Renae : Review

     Book Description

 April 30, 2011
It was happening again. The dreams. The nightmares. It was something seventeen year-old Elizabeth "Lizzy" Hayes thought she'd outgrown...dreams that would come true...detailed premonitions of how people would die. But this time, she dreams about her boyfriend, Michael Young, and soon discovers that he's been found... dead.
Michael hasn't crossed over because he was murdered, and now, his murderer is coming for Lizzy. His spirit won't rest until she's safe. As a newbie spirit, the easiest way for him to make contact is through Lizzy's dreams. When she dreams, it's as if he's still alive...still with her...and that gives her strength.
But Lizzy must learn to pull on her own inner strength to survive horrifying events. Meanwhile, in the spirit world, Michael learns everything he can about his supernatural gifts to help. But will it be enough to save her?
In My Dreams is a story of unconditional love. The kind of love that lives, even beyond the grave. It is a story that will grip you heart, break and re-mend it, and take it on a wild ride of emotion.
Warning: You might want to keep that box of tissue nearby... ;)

My Review
5 Stars without a doubt!
This book was a refreshing new read to my normal paranormal genre! I was lucky enough to receive this e-book as a gift for attending her launch party! It was not even on my TBR list yet! I just happened to come across the event via others I knew attending it. While attending the launch party I became very intrigued so much so it went from not even on my TBR to the top of it! Boy, am I glad I did that! My instincts were right on Que! The only thing paranormal in this book is the ghost part but it's wonderful! Cameo does not leave you wanting more out of it! The love between the characters is so strong death can't even stop them! Even better it's not one of those love at first sight OMG I've met this person two minutes ago and can't live any longer without them books! These characters grew up together as best friends and loved ones! Such a refreshing relationship! There is plenty of suspense to have you hooked and wanting to continue reading in order to find out what happens next! I hated having to even stop reading throughout the story! I think Cameo did a fabulous job with her book description and I refuse to give you any spoilers so I will end this with letting you know the obstacles Lizzie and Michael go through in life and death is a roller coaster ride that will make you melt and sob all while cheering them on and envying the love they share! Please, pick this book up and read it for yourself!

My Review:
I was asked to read this and read to my daughter to give my honest review on this book in the tour.
Well, obviously I am not a child so I read this book to my six year old daughter. First I will tell you what I thought of the book and then I will tell you what she thought and said throughout it.

My thoughts.......It was an okay story. The graphics are not as good as you normally see however you do have to keep in mind it is a children s book not a adult book and a child's mind finds pictures more entertaining if they look like something another child has done. However, I must admit some of these photo's were a little on the boring side and could of been a little more attention grabbing for the child as well as the adult whom may be reading it to them. The story itself was alright. It had a good moral to it for the age group about how to treat others, jealousy is a major dislike in anyone and showed something you don't see very often anymore....child talking to parent. That right there was great to me because let's face it...It seems more and more children are not talking to their parents and vice versa. So, this showed a good example in those areas alone.  However to many questions were unanswered, like why was Derek there for show and tell exactly and why were Baby Jaimie and Derek in a wheel chair (without the photo's we would not of even known they were in a wheel chair for the first part of the story). Yes, it's a kids book however read my daughters responses below and understand why those unanswered questions are important.

My six year old daughter's questions throughout the book.
Why is she in a wheel chair mommy?
Why is he in one too?
What happened to his legs?
What is jealousy? ( Very good time to talk to your child here about this subject)
Why are they making fun of him? (Also, wonderful time to have a discussion with your child)
Mom! They should not be fighting! That's bad! ( Very happy my girl know's this!)
Overall she said the story was okay . I'm sure your child will have the same questions as my daughter did so be prepared for those. There's only one way to find out though! That's to get your own copy :)

I give it 3.0 stars.  Had lot's of potential but just did not pull through for me.....
